In 2015, my Director approached me with a need. We wanted to begin taking into consideration whether the University of Kansas could raise marketing dollars with the help of donors. He wanted me to write a script for a sizzle reel that could help set a tone for potential donors and begin to strategically build a recognizable brand for KU that extended beyond our Jayhawk mascot.
I worked closely with our video department to develop the imagery that would work alongside the script. And the script was written with voice over talent and KU alumnus Topher Enneking in mind. We recorded him in our studio.
After the video was finalized, it was so well received that it ended up being integrated into the marketing platforms of a number of KU departments. It became KU’s TV spot to showcase the university’s Sesquicentennial year, it was used in alumni and endowment to help raise funding, it was shown to new students coming to KU, and it was used as the introduction to Traditions Night.
