The University of Kansas produces an annual Chancellor’s Report, which gives us an opportunity to tell an audience of prestigious university leaders from across the country, the Kansas legislature, alumni, faculty, staff, and more what happened during that year. In 2016, my team was able to revamp our approach to the report.
We were inspired by the words of the Chancellor as she spoke to students at Convocation: Use your time at KU to begin addressing the world’s challenges. These words served as the red thread through the entire report as we told the stories of Jayhawks who had stepped up to her challenge through the year.
In its entirety, we developed a printed report, a multimedia website, a paid and organic social media plan, and a series of videos that were shared on the site and across social platforms.
I worked closely with our media team to bring the concept into video. I was able to use the Chancellor’s words to write a script that became an anthem, which represented how those within the report had embraced her challenge. We worked with a hand lettering artist to illustrate her words and to create consistency throughout the report and all of its touchpoints.
